Self Auditing
Auditing In Business World
The word “Audit” is an accounting term that means a complete and careful examination of the financial records or person (Merriam-Webster dictionary). Auditing helps the business owners, investors, shareholders, etc. to know their financial status whether they are profitable, progressing, or retrogressing.
Achievements, Fraud, errors, and misconduct are usually discovered during auditing. Many companies carry out internal auditing before the arrival of the external auditor to prevent being penalized for any gross misconduct or error.
Auditing also makes it easier to plan for the next fiscal year/season because it will help you to compare where you are to where you should be and make necessary amendments.
Self Auditing
As this year is running out it will be good if we can audit ourselves, check how we have spent this year, and compared our success with our losses. Many people set the same goals every year without accomplishing them because there is no internal auditing at the end of each year.
Go back to the drawing board, check the number of goals you were able to achieve, check your spiritual journey, and take cognizance of how well you have patterned your life to the word of God.
If you have failed in some areas what caused the failure and can you prevent it next year. You should also take note of the area where you are successful and identify the factors responsible for the success so that you can repeat and multiply the success next year. Self-evaluation is very important because without a regular self-evaluation it will be difficult to finish well in life.
Count Your Blessings
However, to do an effective self-evaluation, you must start by counting your blessings, identifying your wins and victories. Even though this year is full of challenges there are still victories to celebrate, either tangible or intangible.
Analyze Your Failures
In addition, identifying one’s failure is also important. Even though the pain of failure at times might be too much that people do not want to remember past failures but they can be used as ingredients for the next success.
When you critically analyze the cause(s) of your failure you can avoid it next time; thereby maximizing your failure. Thorough self-evaluation will help you when setting goals next year. You will not be writing the same goals every year without accountability.
Don’t Live On Assumptions
Let us check the word of God on this;
“Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need first-hand evidence, not mere here say, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.”-2Cor.13:5 (MSB).
It is very important to examine ourselves, we should not live on assumptions. Assumptions might be costly and affect our growth in life. If companies and institutions do financial auditing to ensure their financial growth and accountability, we also need internal auditing for our growth.
You Can’t Do It Alone
I know that at this juncture, someone will want to do a self-evaluation of his/her life but it might not be effective if done alone. You need someone who knows you more than yourself to reveal the real you and reminds you of the type of life you have lived this year.
The person is the Holy Spirit of God. We are often blindfolded by our emotions during self-evaluation, thereby making the evaluation ineffective. The Holy Spirit won’t hide anything from you. He helped me to identified causes and solutions to the mistakes have made this year.
He can also help you if you are ready for His help. Holy Spirit is for people that have Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior. Jesus Christ gives everyone that has Him as Lord and Saviour the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If you have Him, allow and yield to His counsel otherwise believe and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
You are blessed as you do this.
